"Don't worry about it Miss Chalmers," she gave a happy laugh, "you would be amazed at just how often it actually happens, for us it's just old hat. But," she looked vaguely uncomfortable and slightly apologetic, "I am sorry Miss Chalmers, but it is hotel policy that I see your license to double check and verify that you are you. We all know you, you are just so very nice and everything but... sorry," she ended with a faint flush to her cheeks.
Nodding Randi waved the woman forward as she turned and used the key card, letting them both into the room she'd rented. "Don't worry about it, it's policy so I completely understand, after all I don't want you losing your job just because of something that's so easy to accomplish." Randi gave her a reassuring smile as she went over to where she'd stashed her wallet, not needing it for the day, inside her suitcase with the lock. Opening up the case she pulled it out and worked the license free, passing it over to the hotel girl as she moved back to her.
The woman took it and held it up comparing the bad almost mug shot like photo to Randi's face. Handing it back over she gave a light laugh, "Thank you so very much Miss Chalmers," she said as she moved back to the door, "and you have a great night miss."
"Thank you and you too," Randi told her as she walked with the woman to the door, smiling. She'd never actually know why she let her gaze to the bathroom right at that very moment in time, but she did, her eyes landing on the count and the little white key card. Her mind flashed back to that very morning as she'd dashed in there to brush her teeth, the key card in her hand. She had set it down so she could brush her hair too and then pull it back, her alarm going off a moment later and she'd gone into a pre-date panic, grabbing her jacket, turning the alarm off and running out of the room. Looking back to the woman Randi knew she was in big trouble, "Oh shit," she hissed out, then every thing was lost to excruciating pain and finally the warm bliss of absolute darkness and unconsciousness.
