This was passed to me from a friend going through a very difficult time right now and I thought I'd share...
This is the kind of love we all need!
It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for awhile and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now. I was surprised, and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?" He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is." I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, “That is the kind of love I want in my life." True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be. With all the jokes and fun that is in e-mails, sometimes there is one that comes along that has an important message. This one I thought I could share with you. The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have. I hope you share this with someone you care about.
"Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain."

Snippet - 4th Edition
What? You probably figured I was going to forget to give a wee sampling didn't you... Didn't you?! ha! Would I leave you without something to wonder and ponder about?... Actually... I probably would, but this is not the case tonight. Enjoy...
"Okay, is it just me or does this feel like we're getting no where?" Jonas asked quietly as he stared at his continually and increasingly frustrating notes, holding up a hand to forestall Chase. "I did not say we should quit, but there has to be an easier way to damn well do this," he muttered as he scanned the latest of what they'd uncovered.
Swallowing down the last of his pint he held the empty glass up and waved it at the bartender. "She's been gone for ten days Jonas," Chase said in a depressed tone. "Gods only know what the hell Caleb has been putting her through, but if memory serves she's in near constant pain and agony, probably calling him as many nasty names as possible in the hope that she will piss him off and he kills her on the spur of the moment."
"Will he?" Jonas asked, turning his eyes to his friend as their refills arrived.
"Doubtful, but I don't know how creative she is in this timeline," he murmured looking at the mark on his arm before letting go of the edge of his leather wrist band and folded his arms on the top of the bar. "She has always been too damn mouthy for her own good and has managed to piss him off enough that he's done it, but he's also learned greater control over his temper..." his gaze unfocused for a moment and then he cursed in his native tongue long and hard.
"Jesus," Jonas flinched, "I have no clue what the hell you just said but I'm thinking that none of that is going to be helpful to our cause or particularly good for Caleb's health."
"I'm such an idiot," Chase said when he managed to get his temper under some kind of control. When Jonas looked at him in a confused manner he sighed, "I told her how to piss him off enough to loose total control over his emotions."
Jonas blinked at him for a moment and then groaned, "Well why the hell did you do that for?" he hissed out, unsure whether to laugh or just cry.

Random Update
Well, my fingers are numb but I managed another 3,522 words since 7:00 this evening... basically I just did tomorrow's quota - woot! hehe... But now that I can't work my pinky on my right hand it's time to stop for the night - have a good one everybody else who might be writing this evening - Cheers! ;)
8 days to closing
Well, I finally hit the half-way mark, 'bout damn time too. And yes, there is some grumbling after that sentence, I just haven't had the time or been completely unable to make the time to write this damn novel. WTF?! I have all the time in the world in October, but as soon as a deadline looms in the horizon - poof! All the free time is gone like the wind. Oh well, good new is that the groove is on and I do have 8 days and change to make the cut. In the last 3 days alone I've written over 3,000 words, so I can get this thing done realistically speaking.
3,000 and change a day is all that's needed to get to my goal. Not that hard really, I usually do about 2,000 on the bus ride to work and back again, so all I have to do in the evenings is the change of the numbers. And I'll have this weekend to write, all weekend. I'll just put my nose to the grind stone and actually do it. The coffee will be continuous, the snacks will be numerous and I will write until I can't move my fingers anymore. Then I'll rest and start all over again. It is possible! hehe - well, got more to write - I'm outta here.....

Early hours...
Well, I've finally managed to break 20,000... if only by a small margin. Writing for about 5 hours straight I managed to do just under 7,000 words, not too bad really considering I paused for dinner, a short visit from a friend and just general running about for snacks and refills of beverages. But now, my poor brain is fried and my fingers ache - lol! This was the first chance I've had in nearly a week to do any writing at all, so I needed to put in a good showing. Especially considering that as of the 15th I should have been at the half-way mark, and still haven't gotten there yet. But, on the upside, I know am back on track and know where I'm headed with the story again... Had a brief moment when I somehow strayed from my original idea and had to back track to do a little creative editing and additions to get me where I needed to be. But, I'm there now and we're rolling... if only the fingers would stop cramping up - lol!

Snippet - 2nd Edition
Managed another 1,900+ words today and because I'm in a reasonably good mood I'm sticking up a little more just for Rylie, cause I know you're watching my count - lol! ;) Course, unlike my good buddy, I have a full time job that is seriously interfering with my writing time and beginning to royally piss me off. Do you know I put in nine hours of O/T last week alone? That was nine (yes 9) hours of perfectly good writing time. *sighs* Oh well, I'm working through it and I have a plan... that I'm not sharing just fyi! LOL! So, here it is, the latest little chunk of something from tonight, hope ya like it...
First thing in the morning he was out and looking for what he needed to prove his point to Randi. He found just what he wanted not far from his temporary home, unfortunately there were too many for him to be able to run a snatch and grab or even have a pray in a battle with keeping one alive. So he waited, following them as they moved along in their unique manner, seeming to glide while as the same time moving in a threatening manner. The part that creeped him out was that they all seemed to walk at the same angle, giving the appearance that they were moving at a forty-five degree angle across the pavement. They weren't, it was just the way they held their bodies, their stronger right arm held further back, hand always curled at the ready to swipe the long six inch claws across their foe or their dinner, which ever it was.
They were easy enough to pick out of a crowd, appearing to be goths by their black clothing, the large and heavy boots with the chains draped all over their bodies. The only thing that proved them not to be true Goth was the blond hair with the single red stripe down the right side mid-way back on their heads. That and the deeply tanned skin, well the six inch claws on the right hand were a good give away as was the pale, pale blue eyes almost completely colorless from the transformation by their masters. Frowning as he moved along he nearly missed them splitting off into groups, four going one way, six another and the last two heading yet another. And so it was the twosome that he followed after, he'd killed one outright and the other he'd stun with the tazer until he could get the special shackles onto him to prevent him from killing anyone, mainly himself Chase thought with a snort.
Following after them he breathed in and out as he went through the fight in his mind, picturing it and playing it all out as to how it had to happen. Hollow point to the first brain, shock the second and stab the first with the blessed blade through his heart and then turn and cuff the second one. They'll both be down and out of commission, perform the rites on the first to free his tortured soul and let him die in peace. Pull out the blade, pour on the lighter fluid and torch him, body will go up in less then ten seconds not a trace left not even a burn mark. Pick up the second one and hustle him over to the warehouse he'd rented and stash him until he had Randi with him. Sounded simple enough, but to put it into action... Looked like it was show time Chase smiled coldly as he followed them into the alley and began to move quickly, now or never...

Snippet - 1st Edition
Okay... just because I had a good day of writing I'm posting on here twice tonight and putting up a wee chunk of something I wrote while listening to this woman on the bus complaining about her husbands choice in underwear...
"I know your name, I know you like the dark, thick local ale's, but chilled and not warm as is typical of the locals and that you like your burgers well done," he pointed to her plate. "So you see Randi Chalmers, we're fast on our way to becoming the best of friends." With a sly look he leaned in and grinned, "Now if you'd like to tell me your bra size, favorite color and whether or not you're a fan of thongs..." he trailed off the question and waited.
Randi stared at him and seeing the mischievous glint in his eye she burst out laughing, throwing her head back.
Chase closed his eyes for a moment as the rich sound wrapped around him and danced down the nerve ending in his body. Everything in him tightened and came to attention at the sound.
"You are incorrigible," she accused him softly with a chuckle and watched him blink in innocence before that little-boy grin of delight spread over his face revealing a hint of a dimple in his left cheek. "Too large for my liking which makes buying shirts a royal bitch, forest green and yes," she nodded with a small pause, "when I can be bothered to wear underwear I do indeed wear a thong."
Chase's smile got bigger as his groin tightened, she was getting him back he knew for his less than appropriate behavior and he was truly delighted. Blowing out an exaggerated breath he took a drink and shook his head, "And she says I'm incorrigible," he shot her another grin.
Randi just smirked at him, "Alright, come on," she said and then at his confused look told him, "turnabouts fair," and lifted an expectant brow.
"Well," he said slowly, "since the reduction surgery I haven't needed a bra, blue and I personally have never worn a thong." He chuckled as she rolled her eyes, "Takes a stronger man than me to wear something that little."
"Alright," Randi said still laughing softly at his sense of humor, "Boxers or briefs then?" she asked with a curious look.
Leaning right in he told her softly, "Neither," and then watched the dawning comprehension as she nodded and swallowed hard.

My muse...
Okay... seriously, who out there would honestly ever consider that Public Transit would be a kick in the ass for a muse? Well, apparently, it's my muse's ass kicker because that is practically the only time I get any writing done for NaNo. Yes, you translated that babble correctly, I am only writing for my NaNo novel while riding on the Calgary Public Transit.
Today's trip to and from work for a combined total of 40 minutes racked up 1,468 words. That is not half bad in my book *grins* or for my book.

Day Eight
Well... okay, it's the eighth day of the month, but technically it's actually only day four of writing for me. What am I talking about? NaNo of course :) Yup, I've gotten in four days of writing and am at 9,003 words as of 8:45 local time. That's pretty much all I gotta say in this post except that my job is seriously putting a cramp into my writing time. Yet another 10 hour day at the hell known as my job. But, I wrote 900 words on the bus ride home tonight, talk about being on a roll - lol! Oh, and in case you're wondering, it's a twenty (thats 2-0) minute ride. Cheers!

In the dead of night....
So, no one but me is awake at my house, thus it is very quiet. I've been sitting here, once again, making notes. My pile has been steadily growing and is now threatening to topple over. Oh, for those not working on the same wave length as me, I'm talking about the NaNoWriMo novel that I will be doing come November and the (at last count) 153 pieces of paper with scribbles on them that I have in a box. My project for today... later today that is, after I've slept and the brain is no longer so much mush, to organize and type them all up. This will be during laundry and chatting and other housework that I don't actually feel like doing. But, the organizing needs to be done so that I'm ready... that and I can't actually remember what all's in the darn box.
So, Saturday project, get organized and get everything down onto 1 (or 2... maybe 5) pieces of "paper" - ie: into a word document in really tiny type :) Mainly because I know the next week at work will be hectic and then the following week we have the month end smack dab in the middle. So, I kinda need to be pre-organized because I won't actually get to any real writing until at least that Saturday. But, if the buzz in my head is anything to go by, I may end up with a major finger cramp by the time I get enough down that the brain stops working again. Course... it could just be a buzz from all the caffeinated beverages I had earlier today to wake me up... lol!
Well, yeah... this has been another mindless and pointless rambling post by me. Thank you for reading it and not passing out on your keyboards - Good night from Calgary, AB. ;)

For those that are wondering...
Yes, I have succumbed to the Sirens call of the all powerful and mighty NaNoWriMo... I signed myself up and, if you're all really, really good, I'll even tell you who I signed up as. Don't bother looking for me as I am - I'm totally incognito folks...
Yup - and, the really sad thing, I have the whole novel figured out in my head already with about an eight inch pile of notes and scrap pieces of paper with little phrases, thoughts, things I need to add it. So, if all goes according to the Wendy plan - I should have it half done in the first week, procrastinate for the next two and go into the mad dash/final crunch for the last week. Yup... insanity I tell ya :)

I hate the Weatherman!
So, as I was sitting and eating my mini-wheats this morning I heard on the radio a truly evil and despised four letter word here in Canada... "snow". Yup, that's right, "snow" said the weatherman this morning. Now, this four letter word nearly had me choking on my breakfast as I stared in disbelief at the TV screen. Now, it's September, still fall here in the Northern portion of the continent, so this is not a word you wish to be hearing bandied about. It is a word that, most especially at this time of year, strikes terror into our Canuck hearts. So, sitting there with my mouth gaping, he calmly goes on to say that it's only a chance of said "snow" that we'll most likely not be bothered by it. Right... now that it's been said, we're sure to get some. One never... ever... EVER! says that word before November. It's the Murphy's Law of weather, say it and it will happen just to piss you and everyone that know you off, resulting in a bloody beating of you. Well, not quite that, but it's a close approximation of the actual phrase.
I came to work and what is everyone talking about? That's right "snow". Loverly! Peachy! Just freakin' terrific!! *sighs* So, I am digging out my shovel, sealing the windows and getting the furnace ready this weekend, because with the people I know, we should be eight feet under by Monday. From the soon to be white North - Peace out folks... gotta go find my mukluks...

Lost my marbles...

Well, I hate to say it, but I think the title of this post is true (everyone who knows me - hush!) I came home, looked in my email in-boxes, all of them, and went - bleh! Who cares? Well, obviously not me. I answer a few that need answering and then just sit there staring at the rest and shrug. So, instead, I go watch a few YouTube blurbs and putter around, tidying up my desktop and rearranging some of my permanent files and what not when WHAM! it hits me. And, for clarification, right between the eye balls :)
I had me an idea. For what you ask, well, I've been puttering with the idea of doing the NaNoWriMo in November and sort of hemmin' and hawwin' over it. But, I now had an idea. So, lickety split (gads I'm using crap the rents say!) I pulled up a new word doc and started to get down what was in my head. After reading through it about 2 hours later and, slightly rearranging the wild jumble into something that didn't look like it just came out of the local looney bin, I realized I had my concept. Well ain't that all just hunky-dory?! *shudders*
So, I've got my idea, I've got it all laid out in how it should go, I've got everyone (character wise) decided right down to their descriptions. WTF!!?? It's still freakin' September and I've already got it all figured out? May the Gods have mercy on me for this one... I have no idea if it will all still be viable by November, it better be after those 2 hours but... well... we'll just have to see. So yeah, from looney-ville Alberta - Ciao!

Yup, still kickin'...
It's been awhile, I know... so much to do, unfortunately. Have to say, I haven't been this hectic at work in a long time, takes a bit to find that groove again. But, as with anything, it'll get there eventually, just wish it didn't all have to hit like a lightening strike. Fast and painful - lol!So yeah, works been insane and home life has been a royal pain in the you-know-what. Been helping I think pretty much every friend I have in town move from one end to the other over the last two weeks. Now, if they'd actually coordinated this better, we could have picked up at one place, dropped it off, moved over about eight blocks and picked up a load to take back in the general direction of the first place. But no... they both have to move, on different days and then, I'm such a sucker, I get sucked in on a third, fourth and fifth move. *rolls eyes* Where is the justice in this?!
Other than that, writing has been slow, not much going on really, been puttering away still on my script, it's not done yet, but will be soon enough. I'm having fun with it still and that's what really matters most. Thinking about the next writing contest that comes around in November NaNoWriMo. It's big, huge and most of my pals have been writing in it for years. I've been considering it, writing a novel is easier than a script after all, not so much of the having to have it all placed just so and sectioned and proportioned and... well, etc, etc, etc.
But that's still two months down the road, but I've got an idea circling the drain (so to speak) that might just work. Now to see if I have any idea if I can take it through to fruition I suppose. I don't know, as I said, still lots of time to putter with the idea and see if it might lead someplace interesting.
Well, until later folks, dinners at the door and I'm starving - Ciao!

Oh where, oh where has the summer gone?

Okay, this is a totally valid question. Where has our summer gone? We had it and then it went poof! July was the hottest summer month we'd had in many years, and now... August sucks. It feels like I'm living in freakin' Vancouver. Rain, rain and yes, more rain. I like rain when it's warm out and it's a nice break to the heat. But damn! This stuff is cold and nasty, the wind is bone chilling and it's just plain ugly out there. I live in the freakin' prairies, we shouldn't be having this freaky assed weather.
*sighs* But, since there's not really any one to lodge a complaint with, I suppose I must continue to suffer along.
Let's see what else has been happening... Oh yeah, boss is gone on holidays, this I've mentioned before - jerk. And, of course because he's gone, we've gotten increasingly busy at work. Yup, that time of year again where the work load triples overnight. Well, it happened, my desk looked like a paper bomb had gone off when I left on Friday, yup, "left" and that was after cleaning it up for Monday morning. I have so many unanswered emails in my work in-box it's not even funny, just all the crap that a) I didn't get to and b) didn't feel like doing because I already was running around at full steam.
The most joyous of all the news *claps* is that it only gets busier from here! Woo-hoo. NOT! omg! I so can not wait for all the holidays to be completed and the office to be back to full staffing again. Then maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to actually get fully caught up on things.
As to writing, well, I just haven't had time to be working on my script, I know, bad me. But hey, unlike some people I know and won't mention names, I didn't set a deadline to have it completed. See Ry, I didn't once bring your name up in that sentence.
Well, that's it for today, I have some cleaning to do, a little rpg action to complete and then I'm going to collapse and watch the finale of The Kill Point. Ciao!

Survival of the fittest...??

Well, maybe that's going a little too far, how 'bout "survival of the smartest"? I happen to like that better anyway... But, and this is where it gets good, it ain't over yet folks! Yup, that's right, I get even more fun this week, next week, the week after and the week after that.
Why you ask, oh... let me tell you this load of crap! My boss-boss (ie: the guy that signs the pay checks) is away for two weeks of holidays. Fine, no worries, the man deserves it, he works way too many hours as it is. Besides, once he's rested and back, he's always in the right mood to hit up for a raise, a major plus in all our little devious minds - lol!
But, and this is the part that truly fries me, the girl that is my "underling" technically, is on holidays the week that he returns, well - two weeks to be specific. Now you're likely wondering how I could possibly begrudge this girl her holiday time, glad you asked... and even if you didn't - I'd tell you anyway. She is the type to take 2 hour lunches almost every freakin' day, the type that shows up late and leaves early. She's the type that at the littlest sniffle calls in sick and, on top of it all, has a child under the age of ten that she is constantly having to run out of the office to either a) pick-up and take home because he's sick or b) go and pick-up and take home because he got kicked out of class for some stunt, prank, bullying, or just out and out fighting.
In the time since she was promoted to the position she has missed more work than she's actually been there for. In the four months she's been there, working (actually working) for maybe a month and a half. But, the big guy kinda has a blind spot, unless you have irrefutable evidence of this type of shit (pardon my french) he ain't going to do jack about it. So, I have been an evil bitch (pardon moi) and started to keep a log of what her and the evil troll in my office ('nother long story - don't get me started) have been pulling. By the end of the summer there is going to be some serious ass whoopin' or I swear on all that I hold dear to my evil little black heart I am going to go psychotic on their collective asses.
Alrighty then... thank you for reading my rambling and mindless bitching :) night everybody - I hear my bed calling.

2 weeks...
2 weeks of hell. 2 weeks of torment. 2 weeks of whiny, snotty, sniveling weinies! That is my life for 2 straight weeks. Luckily, I'm one down and one to go, but O.M.G!! Never, ever, ever again is this guy allowed to go on holidays unless I'm gone too. His clients are crazy s.o.b.'s, every last blasted one of them. They don't know what they want and when you suggest something they get all in your face and bitch that you're being too pushy.
Well - yeah!! I am being pushy, I want to get off the gods damned phone so I don't have to listen to your bloody whiny assed voice anymore. You're giving me a headache and I've had to listen to you for the last half-hour that could have been better used to do... oh, I dunno - WORK!!! Come on! I swear, when he gets back, I'm bloody well screwing his feet to the floor and he's never going on holidays again - EVER!!!
Alright, I feel mildly better... *sighs* 1 week down.... 1 to go... Gods I need a drink.

Back at the grind
Yup, sad but true... *sighs* I'm back at work and not loving it. I just want to go back to the holidays again, take the time and just sit back and relax. Sucks - big time... What I really need is some millionaire to take notice of me and, for whatever reason, leave me all his money when he kicks to bucket.
All Millionaires that have no one they actually like in their will - please apply here.
Any way, the weathers actually not that bad, nice and moderate, pleasant breezes, the nights get cool and it's very pleasant to be outside for any amount of time. Hate it when I feel like I should be having side dishes next to my deep fried hide.
Well, since I have to go and help out my friend, poor girls gone in for surgery and her mother can only watch the little one during the day. Her husbands out of town and can't get back until Saturday, so I volunteered to help her out at night. Sadly though... the Internet is not a known entity in her house *whimpers*. Bonus though :) is that there is an Internet Cafe not a block away and her little munchkin is a sweetheart. So, I'll dash over if I can, flip through my emails and do some stuff... Luckily, I only need to do this tonight and tomorrow night and then I'm back to my normal hauntings... hehe! I'm outta here!
